About Me & My Practice
My name is Alison and I am an experienced counsellor / therapist. I help those suffering from grief to feel joy again. I began my counselling career as a student counsellor at a Hospice. After qualifying I continued volunteering as a counsellor and I am actively involved there to this day.
I work with people who are seeking support:

-
Following a bereavement whether it was recent or at any point in the past
-
To deal with anticipatory grief when they or a loved one has been given a terminal diagnosis
-
When bereavement or grief has been caused by other losses:
-
The end of a relationship or marriage resulting in separation or divorce
-
Children leaving home
-
Menopause
-
Redundancy or retirement
-
With depression, low mood and / or anxiety
-
When they know something needs to change but they don’t know what it is or how to make the change
How does counselling work?
At the core of counselling is a trusting and supportive relationship between you and your counsellor. I offer empathy, consistency and a non-judgemental space where you can speak freely. Being truly heard and understood, perhaps for the first time, can be a powerful and healing experience, forming the foundation for growth and change.
Feelings are rarely predictable, and it can be daunting opening up to a stranger. You may wonder whether simply talking can really make a difference. These are valid concerns but when you name what is happening, understand why and feel emotionally supported, your nervous system can start to regulate and your mind becomes more open to insight and healing. Talking therapy is not just venting, it is a structured and thoughtful process aimed at lasting change.
